Milk has always been an essential part of children’s diet for their overall development. Toddlers should have 2- 3 cups of milk per day. Milk contains calcium, fats, protein, etc. which are important for children as they are in the stage of rapid growth development. But milk shouldn’t be overconsumed. Milk is nutritious and easily accessible. Milk has around 42 calories per 100 grams.

Lentils are an important source of protein and contain essential amino acids which help in growth and development. Along with this lentils can be an immunity booster to toddlers. You can include red lentils (masoor), green gram ( moong), red gram (tur), chickpeas (channa) in their meal. Always soak them overnight and cook them well till they become soft, so the babies can digest them.

We are all well known for how nutritious fruits are and so need to be in the toddler’s diet plan. Banana, apricots, pear, etc. are some of the fruits which can be given to children. But avoid giving fruits such as strawberries, grapes; which can choke hazards as they are not learned to chew properly. But these fruits can also be given in different forms such as juices, smoothies, pancakes, etc.
Yogurt is a great food that can be included in toddlers’ diet plans and is also easy to eat. Yogurt is a source of Vitamin D, proteins, potassium, and calcium. Children 1 year older and above can have 1/3 cup to 1 cup of yogurt.
Veggies such as beans, carrots, cucumber, beetroot, peas, etc. can be given to children above 1 year. Veggies are a source of various proteins, vitamins, minerals, etc. They can be boiled and can be given in different forms of food.
Nuts, which are a rich source of various nutrients that help physical growth along with mental growth. Nuts can also boost immunity and is an energetic food. Almonds, cashew nuts, peanuts, etc. can be consumed by children of 2 years old and above. Avoid giving them nuts directly rather can be given as chopped or finely ground.
Cheese can be easily eaten by toddlers and hence can be taken as a part of a healthy diet. Cheese contains proteins, calcium, and vitamins. Babies of 6 months old and above can add cheese to their daily diet.
